Lecture Title
Motoric Processes of Block Modification Techniques in Non-Avoidance Based IMS-Stuttering Therapy
Abstract
Block modification techniques, as used in non avoidance approaches, are based on motoric processes focussing on the reduction of muscular tension and kinaesthetic movement control.
On the basis of results that describe the physiologic events during a moment of stuttering, the mechanism of block modification techniques will be explained.
The most popular techniques (preparatory set and pull-out) will be described and practised within the seminar. In addition the training of kinaesthetic and proprioceptive perception, necessary for the successful modification of blocks will be a basic issue.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will learn:
- to describe the physiological events during a moment of stuttering,
- the different motoric abilities, a stuttering person needs, to modify stuttering event,
- to practice and modell these motoric processes in order to teach stuttering patients to modify their stuttering.
